This list is downright insulting...

Rolling Stone put out its 500 Greatest Songs. Apparently, Rolling Stone has only recently heard of hardrock/heavy metal, or confuses "greatest" with "most popular." Of course, its hard to take a list seriously that has Abba's Dancing Queen (171 ranked higher than AC/DC's Back in Black (187). Accourding to RS, Metallica's "greatest" song is Enter Sandman. When I went to my first Metallica concert in 1994, that was the encore and simultaneously, when the multitudes decided it was time to leave. Enter Sandman shouldn't even make it into the top 10 Metallica songs (IMHO, "One" is their greatest song). But what do I know? I've only seen them 3 times (the 4th will be next Sunday).

Ok, I can see Rolling Stone the magazine picking as its greatest song "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan, and its hard to argue with some of its selections at the top. But Stairway to Heaven at 31? That's a disgrace. It's easily in the top 5 songs of all time. Its definitely better than "London Calling," "Born to Run" or "Layla."
