On Cheap Arguments

Hugh Hewitt has a problem wtih Jonah Goldberg.

Hugh, listen carefully. "Trust Bush," "trust Starr," "trust Hecht," "trust Graglia," "trust Beldar" and "trust me" are NOT substantive arguments in favor of the Miers nomination. And no one is arguing that Miers has NO qualifications whatsoever. We are arguing that she lacks qualifications sufficient to put her on the Supreme Court. That we are even debating her qualifications speaks volumes.

Also, Bush is not Clinton. His promise on the Supreme Court was not ambiguous. We know what Bush meant when he promised a Scalia/Thomas-esque nomination to the Supreme Court. We're not idiots. Give us SOME credit.
