the political leanings of a Sears repair man

I just received an e-mail from my sister, who tells this little anecdote:
Something so funny just happened. I was in the kitchen and the Sears repairman was here fixing our stove. He was on the phone, but then he finished his call. I looked up at the clock and it was 9:06. I realized that Rush was starting and I was missing it. Seeing that I had this repairman here, I wasn't sure if I should turn Rush on or not. I decided that chances are, he is not a fan, so I didn't. Then a few seconds later I heard someone talking, like I thought maybe he hadn't hung up his phone or something. Then I realized that he had his little portable radio on and was listening to Rush super quietly. I said "Oh, is that Rush?" He said, "Yeah" and I told him, "Oh then you don't mind if I turn on my radio?" I told him I wasn't sure he wanted to listen so I didn't turn it on. He said "So, I'm not offending you then??" We were both laughing of course. He turned his radio off and I turned the kitchen radio on nice and loud so we could both listen. He said it's one of those things that you don't know people's political leanings and don't discuss politics in polite company or something like that.
